    • I understand from his grandaughter Melda that Frederick was far too posh to go into business and so the running of the firm fell to his brother George from about 1920 when their mother Sarah retired He expanded it and retired a very weathly man He passed the business on to John Adlington Marriott his elder son It was John who sold out the four or five shops to the Four Square chain in about 1950
      (Unlike his brother, Frederick did not retire a very wealthy man but thats another story to which I am not party)
